IP68: WHAT YOU CAN AND CAN'T DO

If a device is IP68 certified, it means it can be submerged in fresh water at depths of up to one metre for a maximum of 30 minutes, provided the terminal protections are kept properly sealed.

We leave you some tips for any terminal with IP68 certification:

• Do not expose your IP68 smartphone to water currents, such as tap water, ocean waves, or waterfalls.
• Additionally, if your IP68 smartphone has been exposed to fresh water, dry it carefully with a clean, soft cloth.
• If your IP68-rated smartphone has been exposed to any liquid other than fresh water (such as seawater), rinse the device gently with fresh water immediately and dry thoroughly with a soft, clean cloth.
• If you have any doubts about whether the guards are properly closed. NO you get it wet.
• Avoid aggressive testing to demonstrate your endurance
• It is not advisable to manipulate the device buttons in the water.
• It is recommended NOT to soak the device in salt water because the IP certification only applies to fresh water.

A device with IP69K certification and passed tests according to the military standard MIL-STD-810H offers a superior level of resistance to high-pressure water, dust, shocks, vibrations, and extreme temperatures.

This US military standard evaluates a device's performance under demanding real-world use, although it doesn't guarantee indestructibility. Here are some tips for any device with IP69K and MIL-STD-810H certifications:

• Don't assume that the military standard allows for extreme impacts or drops from any height. The device is durable, but not unbreakable.
• Avoid exposing your smartphone to pressures, temperatures, or forces beyond the limits indicated by the manufacturer.
• Although it can withstand high-pressure water, do not submerge it for extended periods or manipulate buttons underwater or during direct jets.
• If the terminal has been in contact with fresh water, dry it carefully with a soft cloth.
• If it has been exposed to salt water, mud, chemicals, or any liquid other than fresh water, rinse it gently using fresh water and then dry it completely.
• Do not perform extreme tests with fire, deliberate impacts, or unnecessary drops just to demonstrate durability.
• Make sure all covers, guards, or seals are completely closed before exposing the device to dust, pressure, or moisture.
• Although it can withstand vibrations and demanding temperatures, avoid prolonged use on heavy machinery that exceeds certified ranges.
